My Approach as a Counsellor and PsychotherapistI am able to offer what can be considered as a flexible, creative and professionally identified integrative approach. When we have our first session together we will identify one of two possible pathways for you. As you progress it is important to note that we can at all times be flexible about any necessary changes in style or focus.
These scenarios may be where:
- I offer you short term counselling sessions, possibly between six and eight where we can focus on specific issues which may include difficulties in a relationship, a family crisis, a problem in the workplace including bullying or intimidation, or a panic attack that may be connected with stress.
- I begin to work longer term with you to help explore the roots of some deeper issues and provide you with the means to gain self knowledge and understanding. You may be experiencing desire for change and transformation, anxiety, a deep anger with the world or simply finding and feeling that everything is too much and that you cannot cope and need to help and support.
I said earlier that my work is defined as Integrative. This means that I have trained, and continue to train in a number of theoretical models for practice which means that the appropriate Counselling and Therapy can be tailored to your needs.
My Core training as an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist has a core focus on Jungian and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. This means that it may be possible that we may need to work with and recognise important events from the past as well as now and that we engage with both the conscious and unconscious mind.
Additional and current professional training includes:
Mindfulness; Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) Psychoanalytic Energy Psychotherapy (PEP) a unique model devised by Phil Mollon as a way of working with the psychodynamic and energy aspects of the body in one method. I have also trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). I have worked through the Step One Course provided by Michal Levin focusing on energy aspects of the mind and body. This has been particularly important in developing my self awareness, intuition and my ability to sense the energies within myself and in others.
